PRAY FOR SOMEBODY ELSE

"Brethren, pray for us." (I Thessalonians 5:25, NKJV)

One thing I believe we all can agree on is that there are times when we all need prayer. When life gets hard and troubles come, we who are in the church of God especially, do not mind, and for the most part, are not ashamed to ask some of our friends and the saints to pray for us. Praise God for the prayers of others in and over my life, past, present and future.

Yet, while we all are in need of prayer, have you taken time to pray for someone else? Paul, while on one of his missionary journeys ask the saints in Thessalonica to pray for him and those traveling with him. Paul and his company were under great persecution and threat from the enemies of Christ. Therefore, he knew that he needed the prayers of those who had a relationship with God, to give him and those traveling with him, the strength and protection needed to complete their mission.

Today somebody may need your prayers as well. Somebody you know personally, or maybe just in passing, needs you to, as the old saints would say, "pray their strength in the Lord." There are thousands of Christians serving in foreign lands hostile to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many of these individuals preach, teach and evangelize with the threat of their lives being brutally taken every day. They need us to pray for them. Or could it be that co-worker, classmate, next door neighbor or some other acquaintance that God just puts in your spirit who needs you to petition heaven on their behalf. Maybe the Spirit of God is prompting you to pray for somebody right now. Do not ignore that inner voice. Today make it a point, to PRAY FOR SOMEBODY ELSE.
